About Jim

Jim Wiese brings more than 24 years of leadership experience to the Solutions 21 team. A former Army Colonel, Jim spent his career leading and developing in the infantry and special operations community. He led with distinction in combat and is humbled to have served alongside some of the most talented special operators in the military.

Early in his career, Jim served as an instructor and coach entrusted to equip new infantry officers with the skills needed to lead in combat across Iraq and Afghanistan. This formative experience instilled a deeper appreciation for leadership, culture, and organizational development that became a focus throughout his career.

Jim was fortunate to spend a decade serving in a Special Mission Unit comprised of uniquely screened and selected individuals with a record of success operating in high-stress, ambiguous, and dangerous environments. Across multiple command and staff roles, he led efforts that brought together U.S. and foreign military, law enforcement, intelligence, and diplomatic professionals to solve complex problems globally.

Jim’s final command assignment was with Joint Task Force-Bravo in Honduras, where he led a 1,300-person joint organization working alongside U.S. government agencies and international partners throughout Central America. He finished his Army career at the Joint Special Operations Command, where he continued his focus on building high-performing teams, developing the next generation of leaders, and learning and growing alongside them.

Jim was a National Security Affairs Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution. He is a graduate of the National Defense University with a MA in Strategic Security Studies and a graduate of Clemson University with a BA in Biological Science.

Jim lives in North Carolina with his wife and lazy dog. Outside of work, they enjoy traveling, scuba diving, photography, and a good fantasy book. To clarify, the dog only enjoys the traveling part.
