About Matt

Matt Furjanic is an accomplished retired Head Basketball Coach of 41 years. With successful stints at Division I, Division III, Junior College, and High School levels, his overall record is 615-426 (.591).

Matt’s effective team leadership transformed programs with losing seasons prior to his arrival into championship-winning teams. His time at Robert Morris University and Marist College brought in three NCAA Division 1 Basketball Tournaments.

With a passion to help Matt has volunteered for the Rankin Christian Center, the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, and the Special Olympics. When Matt Furjanic, Sr., his father, and the then town Mayor of Rankin, passed away, Matt finished out his term in 1997.

Matt has been a featured speaker at numerous basketball clinics and camps and has been interviewed, quoted, and written featured columns for various publications. Matt has served on various advisory boards and has been inducted into seven different Hall of Fame institutions including the Robert Morris University Hall of Fame as a coach and the Pittsburgh Basketball Club Hall of Fame. In March 2017, he was inducted into the NJCAA Region 8-FCSAA Men’s Basketball Hall of Fame.

Born and raised in Rankin, PA Matt is a graduate of Rankin High School and Point Park University (1973). He and his wife, Rita, presently live in Monroeville, PA. They have three children and six grandchildren.
